OK, I will admit. I’m a bit lazy.. I’d rather have my fiancé bring me something to drink then getting up myself. There is a commercial in The Netherlands of a shampoo brand where they make fun of slack hair and being lazy – That’s definitely me. I also love to sleep! I function best after 9 hours of good sleep. I am aware; it is a lot and maybe too much. Part from the fact that I love my sleep, you can call me a dreamer. I am also a typical side sleeper, having my legs curled up. TOO much information..

Do you know the columns and stories in magazines where they discuss your sleeping position related to your love life? My sleeping position insinuates that there is not a lot of intimacy. According to the scientists both my fiancé and myself are in need of independence and freedom…

Something that does interest me, is how your sleeping position affects your body and health. Mostly I sleep on my side and especially in the foetus position. This seems to be many women’s favorite. Even your character can be analyzed from your sleeping position. In my case, according to the analysis I seem to be strong and confident – hmm, that seems to be right – but actually I’m a shy and sensitive person. Ohoh..

Health wise there is a difference on which side you prefer to sleep. On your left your internal organs will have more pressure, such as your lungs and stomach. When you’re pregnant it’s recommended to sleep on your left side, because of better blood circulation for both mother and child. The right side worsens your heartburn. Wrinkles will appear quicker by sleeping in this position, such as gravity around your breast area…. – gravity is a b*tch..

Because of the support of your back edge and neck, the best position to sleep is on your back. For a good digestion is sleeping on your belly the best, but then a lack of support will give you back pains more often. Therefore sleeping on your belly is not recommended. On the contrary, this doesn’t mean the best sleeping position for your body and health is a guaranty for the best rest. Back sleepers seem to be bad sleepers.

Obviously it’s a good advice to ventilate your bedroom. An open window is often enough. Lavender under your pillow may help to give your bedroom a relaxing atmosphere, and changing your bed linen. I know people who’d love to do this every day (!!) What?! I dislike changing my sheets, such a job. But I told you earlier – slack hair!

And now I am giving you the best tip of the day; before going to bed, you should be rested already. What do you mean? Wait.. I am going to sleep to rest?! Avoid long Internet sessions, or a movie right before sleeping time. I have to admit; lately I have a long distance relationship with my Iphone. Since a couple of months my Iphone is sleeping on the other side of the bedroom. This really helps me to fall a sleep easier and much quicker. I’m even communicating a lot more with my fiancé. Hmm.. Wait a minute – these scientists might have a point after all!
